Mercer Island Mid Century Remodel
A family who favors traditional homes buys a mid century modern on Mercer Island for its breathtaking views. They have no experience with this new style and need help pulling it all together. They are embarking on a total remodel, down to the studs! They want a space they can have music jam sessions and host multiple cooks preparing dinners. We moved the staircase, opened up walls, gutted the kitchen and bathrooms and more. We carefully selected everything from floors, cabinets, countertops, appliances, doors, and lighting, to furniture and bedding.
Playful pendants over the dining table can be seen from all around the main floor. The custom dining chairs are comfortable and sophisticated with a subtle peak of the jewel tones in the lighting.
By equipping a single 6ft Galley sink workstation with dual faucets we provided room for two people to prep or clean without sacrificing counter space.
We saved the timeless wood ceilings on the upper floors and the stone fireplace in the living room. Custom shelves above the dining bar illuminate light from the top and bottom. Chairs vs. sofa’s in the living room circling the custom ottoman allow for guitarists to jam with the pianist. They wanted plush carpet to help soften the acoustics and blend with the curated walnut floors throughout the main floor.
We designed a main floor bar to service both the dining room and the living room where the jam sessions take place. A basement bar was added for hosting Seahawks parties and and covered outdoor gatherings. Continuing the same tile floor outside seamlessly extends the entertaining area. Notice the new stair handrail has concealed lighting to illuminate the stairs. A wine cellar tucked underneath is easy to access and makes good use off the space!
Thoughtful considerations of details make a your home flow in the best way possible.
This enclosed shower/tub room in the master suite boasts a spa like feeling with a rain shower above, a waterfall tub filler and a handheld shower. Concealed up lighting illuminates the floor to ceiling stone walls. Live edge shelves with plants add to the ambience by evoking a sense of calm like grotto. A nice way to start the morning, or reflect on the day.
